How many lanes?

This traffic jam is on a four-lane divided highway here in Dakar. Aside from the colorful Peugeot pick-up, notice that our two lanes have turned into five or six lanes! However, I applaud those responsible for replacing the bridge that caused this traffic jam because the detour they have created moves traffic better than the old bridge did! I wish I had an aerial photo showing how they made a giant roundabout that, except at the busiest times of day, keep the traffic flowing smoothly.
